The Purpose of the Ohio Association of Senior Centers is to support and enhance the ability of Ohio's senior center network to effectively serve older adults by providing:

Education, Mentoring, and Training to Senior Center and Aging Network Staff: Educational programs, workshops and seminars are offered throughout the year, including the annual conference, regional workshops and educational events co-sponsored with other organizations.

Professional Senior Center Staff Certification: Center staff members can be certified on one of three levels based upon experience and educational achievements.

Guidelines for Senior Center Best Practice: The Association is a resource for information regarding recommended standards and guidelines for senior center practice, senior center management information, and examples of best practice programs within and outside of Ohio.

Development of New Funding Resources: The Association can refer members to centers in Ohio which have developed alternative funding resources such as special fundraising initiatives, county levies, corporate funding, etc.

Information on Legislative Issues and Organized Advocacy Efforts on Behalf of Older Ohioans: The OASC Newsletter, advocacy alerts, information sharing opportunities, and other communication to members provide factual information on public policy, legislative initiatives and other issues affecting older adults and senior centers in Ohio
